About the Woman behind RunTriMom…
I fell passionately in love with endurance running in April 2013 when I completed the St. Louis Marathon. Since then I have completed six marathons (including two World Majors, Chicago and Berlin), a 50k Ultra Marathon and completed races on three continents. I love to smile, sing and laugh my way through races. I have the endurance and heart to carry me through ANY distance. I owe running a lot. I was one of those people that despised running. In my darkest hour, I needed an outlet and decided to cross off my bucketlist "Run a Marathon". It turns out the structure, endorphins and the long run sparked something deep within my soul. I began to love the freedom and the feeling of flying. The strength I developed went far beyond what was needed to run 26.2 miles. It was an inner strength of confidence that began a passionate love affair with the world of endurance sports.
I became a Triathlete when I completed my first Sprint Distance Triathlon in May 2014. I have gone on to race in multiple Olympic Distance Triathlons, three 70.3 distances, completed Ironman Arizona in November 2015 and Ironman Wisconsin in 2017. Triathlon is a deep passion and my goal is to be 90 years old and still competing with a big smile on my face and bright red lipstick. I didn't know how to swim a single lap before I started triathlon and didn't own a bike! I firmly believe that if I can do it, learn to swim and complete an Ironman...ANYone can do it!
I am currently training for Ironman Chattanooga in 2019!
What I am most proud of in my life are my two beautiful boys. They are my heart, breath, spirit, joy, happiness, and teach me more about life with their simple and pure love then I could ever dream to teach them. I am PASSIONATE and advocating that we are ALL "GOOD ENOUGH MOMS" and we need to be as real and vulnerable with our motherhood as we can. We are in this crazy journey of raising small humans together and we need to be less hard on ourselves, toss out "perfection" and OWN being good enough!
I love to write. I have been blogging for years and have started venturing into the world of writing books.
I published my first book in early 2018, a travel memoir from solo trekking through Vietnam, Wonderlust. I have travelled through six continents and over twenty-two countries and enjoy documenting the journey of solo female traveling. Normalizing this concept and encouraging more women to get out and explore the world, mountains and remote beaches.
I have been practicing yoga for 18 years and have been a certified 200 hour instructor since March 2008. I am a Reiki Master and Teacher. Yoga, Reiki and Meditation are my heart and soul and run deep in my spirit. It is a pure love and has taught me to surrender, been a sanctuary, and allowed me to find peace in all aspects of my life. I love to teach and practice the healing side and benefits of Yoga and Reiki. I am a Meditation and Art Therapy Coach and love to share and teach the healing power of Meditation combined with Art.
